TCN

Totón Comella was born in Arenys de Mar (Barcelona) in the sixties. She first came into contact with the textile sector during her childhood. In Saint Tropez, where her family had a store and she used to spend the summer, this future designer would spend her days amongst the store's mannequins, fitting rooms and shelves. By the age of ten, Totón Comella was already producing sketches of designs and patterns. Her natural flair and talent led her to study interior design and fine arts, as she had already decided that she wanted to be a painter and interior decorator. In 1984, a chance meeting would bring Totón back to the world of fashion. One of the leaders in the textile industry challenged the designer to come up with a revolutionary swimwear collection and she decided on a new fabric, cotton-Lycra, which until then was practically unknown. The result was a free and avant-garde style that did not go unnoticed. Indeed, the designer herself turned out to be its best promoter, travelling all over Spain to sell her designs. The amazingly large number of orders forced Totón Comella to seriously reconsider her future, and the result was the creation of the new TCN brand, initially based in a Barcelona apartment. The principal features of these early swimwear collections, comfort and simplicity, can still be found in the garments she designs today. At TCN, the concept of quality is combined with top quality fabrics, simple original forms, bright and fun colour schemes and the latest trends. Totón Comella knew from the start that she wanted TCN to be a trend-setting name.
In 1991 Totón Comella managed to create a separate section for swimwear at Barcelona's Gaudí Fashion Show, where she now presents an annual collection under the TCN brand name. In 1992, Totón Comella launched a new swimwear line, Choff, designed for women with a truly young spirit.
With her success firmly based on the concepts of comfort and simplicity, in 1995 Totón Comella ventured into the women's underwear and lingerie sectors, with a line of underwear, lingerie and homewear based on a natural, glamorous and sensual look. In the year 2000, TCN launched an outerwear range, under the brand name TCN-bis, with a series of designs that immediately attracted the attention of the press and buyers alike. The key to success? Comfortable underwear, perfect for sleeping and relaxing at home in, but that is not out of place on the street. Totón Comella is one of the figures behind the lingerie trend, a fashion trend based on comfort and seduction in underwear and lingerie. The limit between day and night, bed and street wear, is practically non-existent in some of her collections. After having received a number of top awards (including two Laos Prizes for advertising and design awarded by the FIDEM), and working on the swimwear collections for a number of top names such as Armand Basi, Victorio & Lucchino, Pepe Jeans or Prenatal, in 2001 Totón Comella faced a new challenge: opening her own TCN stores. The first TCN store opened in Barcelona in March 2001.
