Pep Generó is the heart and soul of the design team at Mariona Gen, a women's wear firm specialising in fashion knitwear. The last but one of eight brothers in a family working in the textile industry, he taught himself all he knows about the creative process. He grew up surrounded by textile production and became familiar with the feel of the various fabrics from a very early age. Years later, following an internship at a fashion workshop in New York's Soho district, these experiences would develop into a project called Mariona Gen (1998), a firm which is completely independent from the family group, and which was created to turn Pep Generó's vision of knitwear into a reality.

Mariona Gen is part of the Catalonia-based group Yerse, a company working in the fashion knitwear sector located in the city of Sabadell. Mariona Gen is interested in designing garments for a more elitist woman, and places equal emphasis on the quality of the fabric and the design. These are the factors on which the firm's team of professionals base their work, and they spend a considerable amount of time visiting the international fashion circuits of Paris, London, New York and Milan - before going on to create garments in their own particular style.

Mariona Gen garments are available throughout Spain, the Canary Islands, Andorra and also abroad. The firm has showrooms in New York, as well as in France, Italy, England and Portugal. It is there that innovative collections are created including jumpers, jackets, T-shirts, skirt and trouser suits, although a considerable space is also reserved for more basic items.
